A rare and very interesting early 19th century custom made vernacular chair in a mixture of fruitwood, ash and elm, the square back with arcaded top rail housing a draught back with radiating turned spindles above an elm slab seat raised on turned legs united by H-stretchers. This is a really quirky and highly sculptural chair. Amazing colour and patina. England. C.1810 The design of the back indicates a possible use as aspinner's chair.
