Formal Antique Furniture: Up until the 15th Century, furniture was more generally the province of the ecclesiastical establishments and being somewhat rudimentary in design and technique, lacked the sophistication of the evolution of the later pieces. They are also extremely rare.
With the 16th century came the dramatic influence of the Italian Renaissance which rapidly spread northwards and westwards across Europe bringing with it new concepts in design and decoration and a new appreciation of mans own indisputable talents and potential achievements.
